We, the BMW Group, offer you an interesting PhD program in the area of Data Science & electric vehicle development: Machine Learning / Reinforcement Learning.

What awaits you?

• PhD program at the BMW Group in the field of Artificial Intelligence and electric mobility.
• In-depth analysis of available model-based and model-free AI methods, applicable to the development of electric vehicles.
• Conceptualize & develop novel AI recommender systems to:
  • Accelerate the development of electric vehicle battery packs.
  • Adapt how vehicles in the field utilize the battery pack.
• Deployment in HW on the test benches/vehicles with extensive testing & characterization.
• Work in an interdisciplinary team on upcoming BMW electric vehicles.

What should you bring along?

• Masters degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or a comparable course of study.
• Fundamental knowledge of machine learning & deep learning algorithms (such as Reinforcement Learning & Bayesian Optimization).
• Experience in Python, and well-known analytics/AI libraries like Pandas, PyTorch, and TensorFlow.
• Knowledge of electric mobility & Lithium-ion batteries is an advantage, a willingness to dive into the field is a must.
• Good teamwork and communication skills, and an independent and structured working style.
• Business fluent English. German is an advantage.
• Curiosity and persistence.
